Training

Warm-up

About five minutes of gentle, research-backed exercises to get your voice ready. Especially the semi-occluded exercises (humming, lip trills, straw) are well studied.

Step 1 of 5

Breathing

1:00

How

Stand or sit upright and relaxed. Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts, letting the belly and lower ribs expand. Breathe out on a long "sss" for 8 counts. Repeat.

Why

A calm, low breath and a controlled, even exhale are the foundation for steady notes. The "s" gives you feedback on how even your airflow is.

The tips in this app are practice suggestions, not medical advice. If hoarseness doesn't improve within four weeks, please see an ENT doctor; with pain, breathing problems or sudden loss of voice, go sooner.
